Improve the lives of people with disability and carers

The NDIS is a chance to improve the lives of people with disability, however, is a major change in the way services are provided. People with disability and disability service organisations need support to manage the change. VCOSS is pleased the state government has committed funds to close the last disability institution in Victoria and provide additional support for the transition to the NDIS.

Ensure people with disability receive continued support

VCOSS recently published its 2016-17 State Budget Submission: Putting people back in the picture. The state budget submission proposes the Victorian government provide continuity of support to people receiving disability support services by ensuring they continue to receive the same or improved levels of service, in the transition to the NDIS.

Improving transport for Victorians with limited mobility: Multi-purpose Taxi Program Discussion Paper

VCOSS believes the Multi-purpose Taxi Program (MPTP) can be transformed into a broader mobility assistance program subsidising a diversity of transport options for people with limited mobility, streamlining access to a variety of accessible transport assistance, and providing clear, factual information and education to assist people to maximise their mobility choices.
