VCOSS Submission to the Victorian Government’s review of the State Disability Plan.27 July 2016  |  

In this submission VCOSS advocates for a whole-of-government strategy which articulates the roles and responsibilities of the Victorian Government in supporting people with disability and their families and carers. The government’s plan should be inclusive of all people with disability, including people with mental health issues and people with chronic illness.

Housing for people with disability

VCOSS welcomes this opportunity to provide feedback to both the National Disability Insurance Agency and the Joint Standing Committee on the National Disability Insurance Scheme on the housing needs of people with disability. In preparing this submission, a consultation forum was convened with VCOSS members and funded disability advocacy organisations to seek their views and insights into the housing needs of people with disability, and these are reflected in this submission.

NDIS Information, Linkages and Capacity Building Framework: the next steps

On 16 September 2015, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Premier Daniel Andrews signed the bilateral agreement outlining the rollout of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Victoria from 1 July 2016. This historic agreement will more than double the funding currently allocated to disability services to benefit an estimated 105,000 Victorians and aims to give these Victorians greater choice and control of the services they require.
