The right evidence for improving education

VCOSS Submission to Productivity Commission’s inquiry into the national education evidence base4 November 2016  |

In this submission VCOSS advocates for the development of a centralised data repository and coordination of the national education evidence so data and evidence can be easily accessed by federal, state and territory governments, across sectors and communities. This will mean they can better understand what is driving educational disadvantage and take actions to address this. We encourage mapping existing datasets to enhance existing data collections, reduce duplication and clarify their purpose.

VCOSS Submission to the VET Funding Review Issues Paper – August 2015

14 September 2015  |

VCOSS recognises the key role that the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector plays in supporting the Victorian economy and community, both at a national and state level. VET provides an important pathway to employment. Paid employment prevents poverty, enabling people to earn enough income to participate more fully in society. It can help lower rates of financial crisis, homelessness, family conflict and violence, alcohol and other drug use, physical and mental health problems, disengagement from education and contact with the justice system.
