Strengthening the state: A snapshot of Victoria’s community sector charities

A new VCOSS report gives a snapshot of the contribution of Victoria’s community sector charities to the state’s economy and society, with charities employing almost 97,000 people, generating about $13 billion in income a year and being supported by almost 135,000 volunteers.

Victoria’s unemployment rate is rising and it is people who already face disadvantage who are affected most often, for the longest periods, and with the most serious consequences. Tackling unemployment lays out the key strategies for a workforce participation plan to help all Victorians get back to work.
