We’re ready to assist.
VCOSS works with journalists to tell the stories of people doing it tough, highlight the causes and effects of poverty, and present smart policies for a better and fairer Victoria.
VCOSS is represented in the media by CEO Juanita Pope (wahn-EE-tuh)

Case studies
People experiencing poverty and disadvantage can be extremely vulnerable, and the notion of speaking with a journalist is often very scary. (Even though you’re all wonderful people.)
It’s also worth noting that as a peak body VCOSS doesn’t deliver frontline services.
This means we’re not always well placed to find you a case study. Especially if you need one quickly.
But we will try.
And if we can’t find you somebody, we’ll recommend a frontline service organisation that might be able to assist. We won’t muck you about.

Remote video interviews
VCOSS can do interviews over Zoom or Skype (our preference is Zoom).
We are also equipped to professionally record video and audio on your behalf for a ‘sim-sat’ interview.
Basically, you ask the questions over the phone and our team will capture the responses and upload the raw file to Google Drive.
We guarantee a clean and professional shot, without any hideous logos or watermarks.
Student media
VCOSS loves supporting emerging journalists.
But sometimes we don’t have the time or resources to respond to inquiries from student publications.
Don’t take it personally. Please detail your enquiry using this form and we’ll come back to you.
VCOSS acknowledges the Traditional Owners of Country. We pay respect to Elders past and present, and to emerging leaders. Our business is conducted our business on sovereign, unceded Aboriginal land.
