Big political announcements at the Good Life Summit

Victoria’s top three political leaders have used the VCOSS Good Life Summit to expand on their vision for a fairer and more just Victoria.

The Premier Daniel Andrews, Opposition Leader Matthew Guy and Greens Leader Dr Samantha Ratnam were all asked to detail how their parties’ policies would help deliver ‘a good life’ for every Victorian.

The VCOSS Summit is Victoria’s key social policy event in the lead up to November’s state election, and served as the forum for the launch of the VCOSS State Election Platform.

All three party leaders made specific announcements in different areas of social policy, including sector sustainability, state care and housing.

Daniel Andrews

PROMISE: The Victorian Government will fund a current wage shortfall facing the community sector and a re-elected Labor Government “will make that top-up an ongoing feature” until 2022.

Matthew Guy

PROMISE: “A Liberal Nationals Government will pilot the HomeStretch program and provide funding for 75 places per year over two years for young people transitioning from state care, to support their education, employment, housing, physical and psychological goals.”
