The Community and Social Services Graduate Program

The Community and Social Services Graduate Program is a 12-month, whole of sector graduate program for community and social services.

Developed by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing, the Community and Social Services Graduate Program is open to graduates and organisations across the community and social services sectors to address the challenges of attracting and retaining graduate-level workforce. The program invests in early-career professionals, to build their skills and experience and develop the community and social services workforce of the future.

Facilitated by sector partners and coordinated by VCOSS, the Graduate Program is an exciting opportunity for employers who want to access a pool of motivated, qualified graduates. Employers can also nominate an existing recent starter to participate.

Through the program, employers:

  • receive financial incentives per graduate
  • enhanced professional learning, peer networks and other support for graduates and supervisors
  • retain new workers by offering a supported early-career experience.

Held on 20 June 2024, this VCOSS information forum – featuring speakers from DFFH – outlines how the new Victorian Government-funded program can help you to:

  • Provide enriched professional learning and development to eligible early career workers in your organisation
  • Recruit graduates with relevant Diploma, Bachelor or Masters qualifications to suitable vacancies in your organisation
